Motherhouse Tidings/The Deaconess Tidings 1917-1958

This series comprises issues of the Lutheran Deaconess Motherhouse and Training School, Baltimore, Maryland (BMD) publication Motherhouse Tidings/The Deaconess Tidings. Issues date from 1917-1958, but the series does not encompass a complete publishing run. This publication presented news of the deaconess community to those persons who were deaconesses, probationers, and students enrolled in courses for Christian workers. Four bound volumes and one folder of looseleaf issues comprise the series. For 1917-1932, in bound volumes 1 and 2, it is noted that they comprise a complete set of issues. Although it is not noted, it appears that issues in bound volumes 3 and 4 are also complete. Those volumes also include duplicate copies of the handbook issued by the BMD that are described in ULCA 61/8/1 Handbook/Catalogue, Lutheran Deaconess Motherhouse and Training School, 1895, 1903-1947. The looseleaf issues of The Deaconess Tidings may be incomplete. There are no issues for 1950 and 1959. For the remaining years, it is unknown if those were the only issues published for those years. There are some handwritten notations that these issues are complete, but that cannot be independently verified. Records are arranged chronologically.
